The Accord Party, Kogi state chapter has debunked rumours making the round that Kogi state Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello has defected to its fold, but says is welcome to the parry.

Chairman of Accord Party in Kogi state,Alhaji Alhassan Adakeke, who made the clarification  while speaking with Our Correspondent in Lokoja, said neither Governor Bello nor any of his agents has contacted the party both at local and national levels.

The party Chairman, however, said the governor is welcomed with glamour as the doors of the party is wide open with space to accommodate all Nigerians.

Adakeke explained that when Accord heard of the good news of the governor’s plan to defect to its fold, the party was not surprised as God can also help the party to be a ruling party in Kogi, just as God  also helped Bello to be governor.

The party leader said thousands of people have been trooping into the party including prominent politicians from other political parties.

According to him, some of these politicians planning to join Accord party want to contest governotship election on its platform.

Alhaji Adakeke, explained further that ” people see Accord as a convergent point where they will meet to usher in the long desired change that will transform Kogi to an enviable state”.

The Chairman said the people are tired, disenchanted and disgruntled and have no option than to look for a strong and reliable political party that has programme or solution to their problems.

He assured that Accord party is the alternative party in Kogi state as it is accommodating and has established structures down to electoral units levels.

The rumour of Governor Bello’s defection to another party did not surprise most members of the All Progressives Congress, following his desperation to get the party’s ticket to run for the November governorship election.

It was gathered that governor Yahaya Bello is so desperate to the extent that he went to beg those he insulted when he was made governor to help him get ticket to contest election for second term.

Party leaders both at the state and national levels will not dire give him ticket for a second term knowing fully well that it will amount to political sucide on account of nonpayment of salaries to workers for 3 years as well as infrastructural deficiet

Bello is also accused of abandoning the All Progressives Congress Party (APC) that brought him to power as he appointed opposition parties into his cabinet and sent founders of the party and stakeholders into “exile” and branded them “diaspora politicians”, whom he said have nothing to offer.

The governor was alleged to have set up his own party executives and delegates that will be loyal to him in the event of primary.
