The Kogi Central Media Practitioners Association, (KOCEMPA) has condemned in strong terms the recent invasion of the Kogi State Government Lodge in Asokoro, Abuja by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, (EFCC), describing their latest action as the highest level of Rascality and lawlessness.

In a statement by the Acting President and Secretary of the Association, Alhaji Ibrahim-Isa Amoka and Comrade Ibrahim Obansa, respectively, the group wondered why the EFCC officials who refused to attend to Former Governor Yahaya Bello when he volunteered himself to them, will turn around to wanting to use force in effecting his arrest.

Like the Association and other well meaning Nigerians observed from the beginning of this whole Nollywood drama, that the EFCC were not out to fight corruption but were recruited by some disgruntled politicians who believed that they are having personal problem with former Governor Yahaya Bello to himiliate him.

KOCEMPA, an umbrella body for practicing journalists from Kogi Central will not sit by and watch our brother being humiliated in the guise of fighting corruption by some elements while their real reason was different.

The EFCC claim that they refused to attend to the former governor because he was with the sitting governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, why did they attend to Former Governor Ayo Fayose who was in company of Nysom Wike, who was a Sitting governor of Rivers State then.

“The same EFCC attended to Senator Bukola Saraki, who also visited the agency in company of Ahmed , the then sitting governor of his home state Kwara. What makes the case of Former Governor Yahaya Bello different, if we may ask. This is shameful.

“We ask that former Governor Yahaya Bello be given the same privilege which others are enjoying. Several other former governors who are in similar circumstances are moving freely, while some are even occupying key positions in the present administration.

The Association called on President Ahmed Bola Tinubu, to immediately called the chairman of the EFCC to order and allow the due process of the law to take it’s course.

“We equally called on the Mr. Olukayode to immediately resign his appointment as the chairman of the EFCC or be shown the way out by the president, because he has become a huge embarrassment to the nation.

“We also warned in very strong terms that nothing untoward should happen to our son, His Excellency Alhaji Yahaya Bello. Enough is Enough.

“The EFCC chairman should be able to look at his sponsors in the face and tell them that he has tried for them at least by embarrassing himself, the agency he represent and Nigeria as a country. What a disgrace.
