As the All Progressive Congress (APC) primaries commenced in Thursday across the country, report reaching our correspondent is unbelievable.
In Kogi state, it was reliably gathered that primary election to the House of Representative in Kabba-Buni / Ijumu federal Constituency and Senate have taken a different dimension.
It was gathered that some traditional rulers in Ijumu invited delegates from Ijumu to take an oath before Friday House of Representative and Senatorial primaries schedule for Saturday.
The sources added that the traditional rulers ordered that all the delegates must make sure that they vote for a particular Senatorial aspirant during the primary election.
They were also directed to vote for Bar. David Ayedogbon Shola aka Charvid for the House of Representative primary.
However, some stakeholders who spoke with our correspondent said the era of imposing aspirant or candidate on the electorates is gone.
They said that they will never vote for any aspirant that is not from Kabba-Buni/Ijumu federal Constituency.
“We know our people, nobody can force us to vote for somebody from outside that is not from our Constituency”, they said.
Meanwhile, The Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello has laid to rest “Unity list” as the governor rejected the list and warned against imposition of candidates.
The so called ‘unity list’, according to sources was drawn by some of the Governor’s aides.
Governor Bello at an enlarged meeting of the APC stakeholders and aspirants in Abuja told the gathering that he had never at anytime asked anyone to draw a unity list.
He warned that such things as imposition of candidates would no longer be allowed in the party.
Bello said, “We expect that the primary elections will be keenly contested and its outcome not pre-determined. It is better for all the contestants to face the delegates and let the delegates choose their leaders in a free, fair and transparent primary elections”.
However, it became very clear from the meeting held with the Governor by all aspirants and stakeholders of APC from Kogi State at the Ladi Kwali Hall, Sheraton Hotel, Abuja that the Governor is not only an objective leader but a fair one.
