The Peoples Democratic Party, has asked the State House of Assembly to begin impeachment moves against governor Yahaya Bello for abandoning governance, having left the state for about two months without handing over to his Deputy.

The PDP Kogi State Chapter in a statement signed by Bode Ogunmola, spokesman of the party, disclosed that the governor abandoned the ship of governance, lamented that despite collecting all monthly allocation accrued to the state, the state civil servants have not been paid this year.

The PDP further notes that the workers are currently owed between eight and thirty eight months salaries, wondered how comfortable the governor would feel inflicting suffering on the people even after allocation from January till date has been received by the state.

The PDP called on the state assembly to commence the process of impeachment against the governor having violated the constitution, absconding from the state without handing over to his deputy after two months.

The impeachment moves the PDP observed would be good riddance to bad governance, described the suffering of workers and citizens as the worst ever in history.

The PDP described Kogi State as ranked the worst in terms of payment of salaries, and gratuities to serving and retired civil servants in Nigeria, notes that this state is indebted to workers despite the fact that it received bailout funds and Paris Club refund alongside loans from commercial banks, making the state heavily indebted, yet no single project has been initiated and completed by the present administration.

While it bemoans the lack-luster, violent-prone and direction less government rooted in deep corruption and anti-peoples’ policies operated by the APC led administration, the PDP assured that it would however redress the destruction caused by the APC led administration as well as improve on the welfare of workers and citizens when it assumed office in January 2020.

The PDP called on the state assembly to write their names in gold by doing the needful, impeachment of the governor, saying that Kogi state would be once a state in Nigeria if Gov. Yahaya Bello is allowed to continue in office till January 2020.
