The Igbagun Kingdom today marked a momentous occasion with the coronation of HRH Oba Samuel Shola Adebola as its 5th Olugbagun.
The ceremony was conducted under the auspices of the Royal Highness Oba Samuel Ibilaye, the Adetula of Ilai Kingdom, and the Royal Highness Oba Segun Aliu, the Oba of Oranre and representative of Yagba East Traditional Council.
The ceremony, which drew a distinguished gathering of royal fathers, esteemed chiefs, and representatives of the Traditional Council, prominent religious leaders, influential change-makers, and notable political leaders, was a grand display of the kingdom’s rich cultural heritage and traditions.
The coronation ceremony was punctuated by the presentation of traditional regalia, underscoring the significance of the occasion and highlighting the monarch’s role as a custodian of the kingdom’s cultural heritage.
As the 5th Olugbagun, Oba Samuel Shola Adebola is expected to provide visionary leadership that will drive progress, development, and unity in the kingdom, charting a new course for the kingdom’s future while building on its cultural heritage and promoting growth, prosperity, and the well-being of its subjects.
In a poignant moment during the ceremony, the representative of Yagba East Traditional Council, Oba Segun Aliu, lent his royal voice to prayers for Igbagun Kingdom, Yagba East, and the entire Kogi State. Similarly, the Royal Highness Oba Samuel Ibilaye, The Adetula of Ilai Kingdom, offered fervent prayers for peace, unity, and progress in Igbagun Kingdom, as well as for the state and the nation at large.
In a show of solidarity and respect, various communities within Igbagun Kingdom, including the Tivs and Ebiras, paid homage to the new monarch, Oba Samuel Shola Adebola, the Olugbagun of Igbagun Kingdom.
This gesture underscores the unity and cohesion that exists among the diverse communities in the kingdom and their commitment to supporting their new leader.
As Oba Samuel Shola Adebola begins his reign, the people of Igbagun Kingdom are filled with optimism and anticipation, looking forward to the positive changes that his leadership will bring.
