The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has rated the Federal Polytechnic Idah among the first 5tj corruption free institution among the Federal Polytechnics in the country.
The Rector of the institution, Dr.
D Baba disclosed this during the occasion of the Maiden Annual National Convention of the Alumni Association of the institution.
He said that a feat attained through their transparent and honest conduct of all transactions.
According to him, only under his administration that the Polytechnic was granted approval to employ over 250 teaching and non-technical staff which has facilitated the accreditation and re-accredidation of most of their programmes.
The Rector opined that the institution remains one of the institutions rated to have accessed TETfund interventions up to 2021, the feat never attained by any previous administrations.
He noted that the management is poised at sustain and improving upon these feats, until the lost glory of the institution “Technology for Self-Relianve” is regained.
He also pointed out that the management under his watch had been working tirelessly towards redressing both infrastructural and academic deficits experienced over the years.
“Our determined efforts and commitment has rated the institution among the most excellent Polytechnic in Nigeria
“This rating by ICPC has increased our capital allocations with effect from 202,” he said.
He therefore commended the pioneer president of the association, Engr. Godwin Omofoma for his doggedness and resilience in ensuring the FPI Alumni Association met all requirements to be recognised worldwide.
He stressed that Alumni Associations the world over have, contributed in no small measure in improving infrastructural and other facilities in their alma mater.
He added that they have helped in attracting both internal and external aids which are of significant value to the growth of their alma mata, as he commended the association for sinking Solar powered water boreholes at the admin block and female hostels, renovation of the medical centre and industrial liaison unit among other interventions by the alumni.
