Salome Abuh a 60 yesr old woman was on Monday afternoon killed by some angry youths in Ochadamu, Ofu local government council of Kogi State.
It was reliably gathered on Tuesday that the PDP woman leader, Salome Abuh was set ablezed by some angry youths following as a result of crisis which involved two men from different political parties.
Sources confirmed to that there was a misunderstanding between one Awolu Zekeri a member of APC and one Gowon Simeon a member of PDP both of Ochadamu, in the process Gowon Simeon stabbed Awolu Zekeri with a knife on his Lap, he died on his way to the Hospital.
As a result, angry Youths in the area mobilized to the house of one Simeon Abuh of same address who is an uncle to the suspect, set it a blazed, thereby burnt Salome Abuh aged 60 years.
Speaking on how she was killed one SalifuMoses said on Saturday the victim voted just like every other voters in the village and after voting she left for her house.
Then the following day which was on Sunday, when the news of the result of the election started trickling in, she was happy because her party was leading in her local government particularly she won her ward.
On Monday when the final result of the election was finally announced, some political thugs about 2pm in the afternoon invaded the community shooting sporadically and then made straight to the late Mrs Abuh’s house and then surrounded the house, bolting every exit and escape from outside.
He disclosed that on that Monday there was a misunderstanding between one Awolu Zekeri a member of the All Progressive Congress (APC) and one Gowon Simeon a member of People’s Democratic Party (PDP) both of Ochadamu.
He stated that Gowon Simeon stabbed Awolu Zekeri with a knife on his Lap when they are fighting and he later died on his way to the Hospital, as a result, angry Youths in the area mobilized to the house of one Simeon Abuh of same address who is an uncle to the suspect, set it a blazed, thereby burnt Salome Abuh aged 60 years.
“They poured petrol on the building and set it ablaze as other terrorized villagers watched from hiding. She attempted to escape through a window but was prevented by the metal burglary proof and they started shooting raining bullets
in her direction.
“The thugs waited no time shooting and watching with relish while Mrs Abuh cried for help from inside the inferno until her voice died out,” he said.
According to him, they left the village when the entire house and Mrs Abuh had been burnt to ashes.
The people in that community could not help her as every one have to ran away for their lives. Not even the vigilante or hunters in that community could do anything to safe the woman.
Also speaking one of the community leader condemned in a strong term the killing of the woman.
Speaking his mind Gabriel Abraham described the woman as an easy going woman. According to him on that faithful day everybody was going about and doing his or her normal business when some men arrived the community on motorcycle.
He said immediately they entered the community they started shooting sporadically and everyone have to take covered to avoid the ranning bullets of the thugs.
He mentioned that they went into the house of the woman blocked entry and exit point of the house and then pour petrol round the house including the roof and then started shooting and later ignited the house with the bullets.
Abraham therefore called on the Kogi State Police Commissioner, CL Hakeem Busari to kind investigate the killing and being to book the killers so that they can face Justice.
He noted that the people of the community are now afraid that the killers can come at anytime and finished the entire community.
Meanwhile, the Director General Media and Publicity to Kogi State Governor, Mr..Kingsley Fanwo has expressed disappointment over the “mindless attacks by rival parties in Ochadamu”, saying anyone who breaks the law will be punished regardless of party affiliations.
The spokesman made this known while reacting to the “disturbing attacks and clashes in Ofu local government council .
He said, “We feel disturbed at reports of violence in Ochadamu that has led to loss of lives and property in the community.
“It was reported that a supporter of the All Progressives Congress was stabbed to death while party members were jubilating over the outcome of the Governorship election. The reprisal attack by alleged APC members which led to the death of an innocent woman is criminal and condemnable. Our government would not shield party members who break the laws of the land.
“His Excellency, Governor Yahaya Bello has directed security agents to quell the rising tension and also ensure that perpetrators of the murder and arson are brought to book. The Governor is elected to protect all Kogi people regardless of their ethnic or political beliefs”.
Fanwo said the State Security Adviser, Commander Jerry Omodara has been given a marching order to ensure the crisis is brought to an immediate end.
He urged the people of the community to maintain peace as justice will surely be served.
However, confirming the in identify, the Kogi State Police Command Public Relation Officer, Mr. Ovye William in a press statement said “On 18/11/2019 at about 1630hrs, one Musa Etu of Ochadamu, Ofu local government council reported at the Station that, at about 1030 of same date, there was a misunderstanding between one Awolu Zekeri aged 35years member of APC and one Gowon Simeon a member of PDP both of Ochadamu, in the process Gowon Simeon stabbed Awolu Zekeri with a knife on his Lap, he died on his way to the Hospital.
As a result, angry Youths in the area mobilized to the house of one Simeon Abuh of same address who is an uncle to the suspect, set it a blazed, thereby burnt one Salome Abuh aged 60 years.
“Three other houses were equally burnt. The corpse has been moved to the University Teaching Hospital Mortuary Anyigba for Autopsy.
According to him, the Police Mobile Force and Police Special Forces have been drafted to the area to prevent any breakdown of law and order as investigation is ongoing.
