Details are beginning to unfold regarding the circumstances that led to the death of Timothy Oludare Adegoke, an MBA student at the Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile Ife, Osun State.
Adegoke, who was declared missing on November 7 by his family and friends, was found dead by the Osun State Police Command on November 15. The police did not disclose how or where his corpse was found.
The father of three who resided in Abuja with his family had reportedly travelled to Ife on November 5 to sit for OAU’s examination at a distance learning center in Moro, Osun.
It was learnt that Adegoke had checked in at the Hilton Hotels and Resorts owned by Rahmon Adegoke Adedoyin, a popular businessman and founder of the Oduduwa University.
Preliminary police investigations into the OAU student’s death led to the arrest of Adedoyin and a receptionist at the hotel on Wednesday.
Ayo Ojeniyi, who is close to the late Adegoke’s brother, shared an update he received from the deceased’s brother in a Facebook post on Wednesday.
According to the account, the hotel receptionist whose name was not given, confessed that the hotel owner allegedly killed the Adegoke for money ritual.
The receptionist, who was said to have initially denied lodging Adegoke, recanted after a bank alert on her phone showed that the deceased credited her account for his hotel booking.
“The lady (receptionist) also confessed that their Chairman had hand in the brutal ritual killing,” said the deceased’s brother, adding that “the lady was supposed to close at 12 noon but called another staff to take over duty at 8am, that she had emergency call at Ejigbo. Her phone was tracked and eventually picked up by the police. She then pleaded with the police that she was ready to confess everything that happened
“It was at her instance that all principal actors were mentioned and apprehended, including the Chairman of the hotel.”
According to Adegoke’s brother, the hotel’s manager who is suspected to be a ritualist was also picked up by the police alongside six others.
The deceased’s bother wondered why the receptionist would allegedly be on N200,000 monthly salary when “Eko Hotels or Sheraton cannot pay [such amount to receptionists] if not for her involvement in ritual killings.”
Speaking further, he said “
