Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State has been described as one of the shining lights of good governance and a true democrat in Nigeria by the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Prince Matthew Kolawole.
The Speaker disclosed this while answering questions from Journalists in Abuja at the two days workshop organized by the Presidential Implementation Committee on Autonomy for the States Legislature and Judiciary.
According to him, Kogi State is one of the first states that passed the bill that established the State House of Assembly Service Commission which was promptly assented to by Governor Yahaya Bello.
He said the Governor did not only sign the bill into law, he went ahead to nominate members to the commission and the highly experienced members have been inaugurated for more than six months.
‘I can tell you that our Governor is a true democrat that believes in the principles of the separation of powers, hence his cooperation with and support for the autonomy of both the Judiciary and the Legislature’
He said the cordial relationship between the executive, legislature and other arms of government in the state is not without his concerted efforts to reposition governance in the state.
He said the administration has performed creditably well in some critical sectors like security, education, infrastructure development, civil service reforms, hence his reelection would be smooth sailing.
The performance of our party in the just concluded general elections are pointers to the fact that APC is in charge of Kogi State, hence no room for the opposition.
