Former Speaker of Kogi State House of Assembly, Prince Mathew Kolawole, has reiterated his unwavering commitment to the All Progressives Congress (APC), Governor Usman Ahmed Ododo, and former Governor Yahaya Bello.
Kolawole made this statement on Friday while addressing rumors circulating about his rising popularity ahead of the 2027 APC primaries, attributing his success to God, Governor Ododo’s good works, and his mentorship under former Governor Bello.
He described the rumors as misinformation peddled by “idle minds” scared of his rising popularity, emphasizing that he remains focused on the forthcoming APC primaries. Prince Kolawole pointed out that God remains his only sponsor in the race for the 2027 House of Representative, urged those spreading baseless allegations to instead focus on how to win him in the race, predicting a landslide victory.
According to Prince Kolawole, “Almighty God, the good works of Gov. Ododo and the tutelage he gathered from former Gov Ododo has remained his staying power, with that serving as his sponsors”.
He called on the leadership of the Party in the State and in Kabba Bunu Ijumu Federal Constituency to provide the needed level playing field, stating that he is relying on his good works, goodwill, and popularity to emerge victorious at the APC Primary.
He further stated, “Lies from the pit of hell will only survive short while. I’m use to lies, rumour in this game of Politics. No amount of rumour mongering will deter me as a politician”, reaffirming his belief in Governor Ododo’s administration and former Governor Yahaya Bello’s leadership.
Kolawole expressed confidence that he will reclaim his mandate in 2027, dismissing claims of unknown sponsors, and highlighting his over a year of leading the party in Kabba Bunu Ijumu Federal Constituency, with the people happy about his intervention and leadership.
He recalled his support for Governor Ododo’s second term, despite facing criticism, and noted that Governor Ododo’s qualities have made him a strong candidate for the 2027 Kogi Governorship election.
Kolawole concluded, “I’m ready to lead in that trajectory. Nothing will deter him from a second term. We his foot soldiers are solidly behind him. We are tied to his apron strings and God will hear our plea”.
