The Kogi State Commissioner For Solid Minerals and Natural Resources, Engr. Bashiru Gegu has empowered 500 Citizens of Kogi LGA with Cash, 100 Sewing Machines, 100 Pumping Machines and 100 grinding Machines.
According to the Commissioner, the gesture and support is a way of giving back to society, said he is a product made by former Governor Yahaya Bello and Gov. Usman Ahmed Ododo.
The distribution of the items coincided with the Commissioner’s birthday anniversary program held in Gegu Beki.
Muhammed Alhassan who spoke on behalf of the beneficiaries of the items expressed joy, showered encomium on Engr. Bashir Gegu, described him as the best Commissioner Kogi LGA has ever produced.
While describing him as humble, generous and fearless when it comes to the defence of the vulnerable in the society, Muhammad prayed God to grant the Commissioner Good health and prosperity in the coming years.
Similarly, the Political Mother of Kogi LGA, Hajia Maimunat Iyami Shaibu Tatu prayed for the Political success of Engr. Bashir Gegu to extend beyond being a Commissioner, urged citizens of the State to pray for the State, the leader of the State FGYB, the present Governor and Engr. Bashir Gegu.
In his response, Engr. Bashir Gegu thanked Former Governor Yahaya Bello and Gov. Ahmed Usman for nurturing and empowering him to become what he is today.
He added that without Former Gov. Yahaya Bello and Gov. Ododo there will be no Bashir Gegu, described the duo as light to his life to make impact in the lives of men, particularly, in Kogi LGA.
The occasion of the empowerment program by Engr. Bashiru was made colourful with the presence of the Speaker Kogi state House of Assembly, Rt Hon Umar Aliyu, Hon Danladi Aguye Member Representing Kogi Lokoja Federal Constituency in the National Assembly.
Others who graced the occasion include Hon Haruna Isah, Hon Idris Aliyu, Hon Teambest, Hon Muhammed Shaibu Asio, Hon Bala Ette, Hon Abdullahi Idowu Suleiman, Hon Ibrahim Saidu, APC Chairman and the Traditional rulers and several numerous appointees of the State Government.
