The Ebira Doctors’ Forum (EDF) has commended Kogi Governor, Alhaji. Ahmed Ododo, for signing a bill converting the Reference Hospital, Okene to Confluence University of Science and Technology (CUSTECH) Teaching Hospital into law.

The EDF in a statement jointly issued by its President, Dr Zubair Kabiru; and Secretary, Dr Shaibu Moses on Wednesday in Lokoja, appreciated the governor for his visionary leadership and unwavering commitment to the health sector.

“On behalf of the Ebira Doctors Forum (EDF), we wish to express our heartfelt gratitude and profound appreciation to His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, for his visionary leadership and unwavering commitment to the health sector.

“This commitment, as exemplified by the signing into law of the bill converting the Reference Hospital Okene (RHO) into the Confluence University of Science and Technology (CUSTECH) Teaching Hospital.

“This monumental decision underscores your administration’s dedication to improving healthcare delivery and access in Kogi State.

“It also marks a significant milestone in the development of medical education in our state, as it paves the way for an increase in the admission rate of students into medical school and the eventual production of healthcare manpower.

“At a time when Nigeria faces the challenges of brain drain and the ‘Japa’ syndrome, this bold initiative will undoubtedly contribute to retaining talent and fostering the next generation of healthcare professionals within our state and the nation at large,” EDF said.

The association also commended the visionary steps Ododo’s administration has taken since coming into power to strengthen healthcare delivery in Kogi State.

The EDF stressed that the appointments professionals and the establishment of the CUSTECH Teaching Hospital are a testament to the governor’s resolve to uplift the state’s healthcare infrastructure and human resource capacity.

The doctors reaffirmed their commitment to collaborating and supporting Ododo’s administration in achieving its healthcare goals.

“The appointment of seasoned professionals such as Professor Solomon Avidime as Provost of the College of Health Sciences, CUSTECH; and Dr. Shaibu Stephen as Chief Medical Director of the CUSTECH Teaching Hospital.

“And the appointment of Dr. Muazu Musa as Executive Director of the Kogi State Primary Healthcare Development Agency, clearly reflects your commitment to promoting excellence and professionalism in the health sector.

“Your Excellency, these appointments and the establishment of the CUSTECH Teaching Hospital are a testament to your resolve to uplift the state’s healthcare infrastructure and human resource capacity.

“These strategic steps will not only enhance access to quality healthcare but also position Kogi State as a hub for medical education and innovation in Nigeria.

“The Ebira Doctors Forum (EDF) is proud to identify with your administration’s progressive strides in the health sector.

“We remain committed to supporting your government in achieving its healthcare goals.

“We stand ready to collaborate with your administration to further promote healthcare delivery, medical education, and the overall well-being of the people of Kogi State.

Once again, Your Excellency, we express our profound gratitude and commend your foresight and dedication to building a healthier, stronger, and more prosperous Kogi State,” the EDF said.
