Governments have been told to intensify campaign against stigmatization of COVID-19 patients in its efforts to stop spread of the pandemic.
A group of agro-based professionals in Ilorin, Kwara state said in a statement on Wednesday.
The group, led by Alhaji Abdulmumeen Adeniyi, chairman of ADMUMSHO FEEDMILL NIG LTD, Ilorin, advised the federal and state governments to restrategize on ways to get rid of the coronavirus pandemic in this country, saying that many residents needed to be enlightened.
The people lamented that closure of interstate and lockdown of cities are afecting businesses negatively and by extension, the nation’s economy.
They added that the lockdown and ban on interstate travels have also added to citizens hardship as scarcity of food items had hike in cost of food items.
They also appealed to the government to step up its awareness campaign against the disease instead of the current closure of inter state borders and lockdown directives in some states.
Adeniyi lamented negative impact of the lockdown on the economy, particularly as it affects fish farming and other related agro businesses.
