The Ondo State government has said that the corpse with 50 buses of mourners going to Kogi State from Lagos State violated lockdown put in place by government to curb COVID-19 Pandemic.
The Special Adviser on Transport to Governor Rotimi Akeredolu, Mr. Tobi Ogunleye, while speaking said that the vehicle containing the corpse and the 50 buses of mourners were apprehended because they violated the directive on curfew in Ondo State and enter the state illegally and overloading.
The Special Adviser decried that all the effort of the task force were being destroyed by some security officials who allowed the travellers and the corpse into the state.
The arrest of the corpse heading to Kogi State and the 50 buses of mourners were carried out by the Task Force on Covid-19 in Ondo State who were monitoring the compliance at the state border.
Upon interrogation, the driver of the bus explained he was taking the corpse to Kogi State for burial.
Recalled that Ondo State government, imposed curfew in the state as one of the measures to manage the spread of Covid-19, putting a temporary ban on night clubs, drinking joints and social places in an effort to discourage social gathering at night.
