Getting a gun is like buying bread says Auwalun Daudawa, the leader of Zamfara bandits. He made this statement during an interview with daily trust after his repentance.
He was the one who led the abduction of kankara 344 students in the kankara local govt area. He revealed that they were at the school with not fewer than 24 AK-47 bullets, rifles and other arms.
Auwalun Daudawa reveals how and what influenced him to join bandits. He said he has cattles and a place where he lives peacefully with his family, but the government came and took away his cattles and all he has, he is in hardship, that was how he joined the bandits.
The Zamfara state government granted him amnesty and his followers, he also made a promise not to go back to his notorious life of banditry after coming back to normal life.
It was also reported by Sahara reporters that the Zamfara state govt spent #250m on repentance bandits in 2021, this has brought some reactions on why this amount of money should be spent on such notorious and merciless people, what should separate them from the government is the starting fight and should be ended.
