In a bid to meet the universal health coverage in year 2030, Governor Yahaya Adoza Bello inaugurated the Kogi state health insurance scheme
Performing the inauguration at the Glass House of Government House Lokoja, the governor who was represented by his deputy, Chief Edward Onoja said he signed the bill establishing the agency in April last year as a positive move to make health care delivery services available to the people.
In his remark the Commissioner of Health in the state, Dr Haruna Audu Saka thanked the governor for being sensitive to the health needs of the people. He charged the inaugurated staff members of the agency to be proactive in their activities at all times.
Chairman Kogi state chapter of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Comrade Onu Edoka declared that the workers in the state are prepared to key into the health scheme. He however appealed to the governor to stop percentage payments of salaries to enable workers key into the scheme with ease.
The Executive Secretary of Kogi state Health Insurance agency. Dr. Adekunle Aladare thanked the governor for appointing him as the pioneer Executive Secretary of the agency. He assured the governor of his commitment to positively steer the ship of the agency.
