Former Vice President, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar has emerged winner in the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) 2023 Presidential Primaries which took place on Saturday in Abuja with 371 votes
The Governor of Sokoto Alhaji Aminu Tambuwal a presidential aspirant had stepped down for Atiku and gave his votes to the former vice president.
However, Rivers state governor and rival, Nyesom Wike came second in the keenly contest competition. It can be recalled that 17 persons purchased the party’s nomination and expression of interest forms.
Two were disqualified by the David Mark-led screening committee while Former Governor of Anambra State, Mr. Peter Obi opted out of the race and resigned from the party, leaving 14 contenders.
Below are the results from the Primaries;
Atiku Abubakar – 371
Nyesom Wike – 237 votes
Bukola Saraki – 70 votes
Anyim Pius – 14 votes
Bala Mohammed – 20 votes
Emmanuel Udom – 38 votes
Sam Ohuabunwa – 1 vote
Oliver Teriela Diana – 1 vote
Void Votes – 12
