A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kogi State, Chief Anthony Ogah, has advised Governor Yahaya Bello to work more with the APC structure in the state.
Chief Oga in a press statement said by so doing, the governor should appoint those who worked for the victory of the party in the November 16, 2019 gubernatorial election.
“If our party, the APC, must remain viable in the state beyond Governor Yahaya Bello’s tenure, His Excellency must engage more with the party structure, instead of individuals.
“The State Party Chairman and his Exco should be the only channel through which the party appointment flows down to the members and not the other way round”, the philanthropist said.
He explained that it will ensure that the party remains strong beyond 2023, cautioning against patronizing of individuals as against the party hierarchy.
He urged governor Bello to appoint those who worked for the success of the party in the last election into sensitive positions to guarantee the party’s cohesion after him.
“If those who toiled for the party’s victory in the last election are appointed into positions, it will engender the people’s confidence in the party but if they are left out in the scheme of things, it may spell doom for the party’s internal cohesion,” he pleaded.
He advised the governor to embark on a tour of Kogi East to see things for himself maintaining that the tour of the area will afford the governor the opportunity of accessing, if the billions he pumped into Kogi East in his first term had tangible impact or not.
“My appeal to Gov Bello is to embark on assessment tour of Kogi East to see for himself, if the billions he deployed to the area in the last four years have really impacted the lives of the people.
“Believe me; most of the monies pumped into Kogi East during the first tenure went into marrying more wives, servicing lousy lifestyle and chasing women.
“If opportunities are given to idle people, they will abuse it because they will see it as an avenue to enrich themselves instead of taking care of the people,” Chief Ogah said.
He assured of his continuous support and loyalty to the administration and the APC in the state.
