The Ancient Community of Ayere was thrown into celebration over the weekend with different groups dancing to celebrate the first Anniversary of Oba Julius Olumodeji III, who ascended the throne of his ancestors as the Alayere of Ayere, a border town in Ijumu Local Government Area in August last year.
It was also a period to celebrate his landmark achievements as the Paramount Ruler of the Community with a lot of achievements to his credit in the last one year.
Oba Olumodeji while speaking at the Iwuye ceremony and Launching of N350 million Fund for the building of Alayere Central Palace, stated that the remarkable achievements was achieved due to the understanding, support and cooperation of the people of the Community.
The Ayere Paramount Ruler, who used the occasion to confer honourary Chieftaincy Titles on some deserving personalities, emphasized the need for people of the Community to be united and ensure peaceful coexistence to move the ancient town forward.
Oba Olumodeji, who expressed satisfaction with the achievements and support so far, explained that more could be achieved with unity of purpose and love.
“We give thanks to God for the opportunity and grace to serve my people in the last one year. Indeed, it has been a rewarding one year with provision of street lights, fixing of boreholes and provision of new ones and the building of office accomodation for officers and men of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), It is a massive project that is almost completed.
He stated that more can be achieved with unity of purpose, love and passion to contribute meaningfully to the peace, progress and development of the Community.
In his remarks, the Alaga Ijumu Oke, Oba Michael Kolajo congratulated Alayere on his first anniversary, thanking the people of the Community for the cooperation given to the Traditional Ruler.
Oba Kolajo used the occasion to call of government to declare State of Emergency on Ijumu Oke Roads, which according to him is currently in a deplorable condition and used by criminals to perpetrate their nefarious activities.
The member representing Ijumu Constituency at the State House of Assembly, Princess Omotayo Adeleye Ishaya, who was confered with a Honourary Chieftaincy Title of Amuludun of Ayere, assured of her commitment to make the people of the Community and the Constituency happy with quality representation.
She expressed her warm appreciation to the Alayere for the honour and recognition of her modest contribution to the Local Government and the State at large, restating her readiness to do more.
Others, who bagged honourary Chieftaincy titles including Prince Olatunji Olusoji, Asiwaju of Ayere, Chief Victoria Jagboro, the Yeye Oba of Ayere land and Dr. Peter Tukura, Maiyegun of Ayere land just to mention but a few said the honour will spur them to do more for God and humanity.
Earlier, the Chairman of the Iwuye Planning Committee, Engineer Bola Lawal and Secretary, Prince Lawrence Adesina described the Oba Olumodeji as unifier and a blessing to the Community.
They prayed God to restore the lost glory of the Community and grant Oba Julius Olumodeji more wisdom and good health to pilot the affairs of Ayere to enviable height.
