Amodu Arome, a social media commentator, has compared Usman Austin Okai to the late political icon, Dr. Stephen Makoji Achema, who was prominent among the Igala-speaking community.
In a Facebook post on his official account, Arome praised Okai’s leadership style, asserting that he is reminiscent of Dr. Achema in his early days.
Arome expressed his hope that Okai would have a long life, benefiting society, and mentioned that Dr. Achema would be proud of Okai’s achievements, wherever he is in paradise.
In a subsequent post, Arome elaborated that although Okai is young, he has conducted himself with integrity, earning him a place among the respected elders of the land.
He emphasized that Okai has brought pride to Kogi and Nigeria, proving himself trustworthy like Achema.
When interviewed by Ourworldgist, Arome briefly described Usman Austin Okai as a professional accountant and an advocate of good governance who enjoys citizen journalism.
Arome revealed that between 2015 and 2024, Okai was repeatedly arrested and jailed by the government of Yahaya Bello for his boldness in speaking truth to power.
He added that Okai, a philanthropist who supports society and individuals with his modest income, was the undeniable Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for the federal house of representatives for Dekina/Bassa in 2023, but his election was thwarted by a candidate favoured by Yahaya Bello.
Arome concluded by noting that Okai, who is outspoken, courageous, and confident, is cherished by the Igala-speaking community and others.
