It was a joyous moment yesterday as the heavy downpour in Kabba metropolis could not hold back stalwarts of All Progressive Congress from trooping out in solidarity to celebrate the victory of Governor Yahaya Bello, Deputy Governor, Chief Edward David Onoja and the APC over the dispute that arise from the November 16th, 2019 Kogi State Governorship Election which the Supreme Court decided in favour of the APC and its candidates as the duly elected Governor and Deputy Governor of the state.
The event which was tag victory party for Governor Yahaya Bello and APC had in attendance the bigwigs of the party from the local government who led other members and supporters to appreciate God and the good people of Kabba/Bunu for voting en-mass for the party during the last year governorship election.
Speaking at the occasion, the member representing the constituency who is the Speaker of the Kogi State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Prince Matthew Kolawole commended the people for standing with the party before, during and after the election, stressing that it is only genuine supporters like them that can defy such a heavy downpour and still find time to gather to celebrate for the good of the state.
He said the judiciary at the different levels has shown that they are the last hope of the ordinary citizen, pointing out that the judgment as delivered has confirmed the authenticity of the election; hence the people of the local government should expect massive infrastructure development within the shortest time.
Speaker Kolawole charged the people to continue to have faith in the Ebigo agenda of Governor Yahaya Bello, stressing that the administration will continue to work for the people.
While the State Security Adviser, Commander Jerry Omodara (rtd) reiterated the commitment and determination of the new direction administration to do more in the area of securing the lives and properties of the resident of the state, stressing that there will be no hidden place for criminals as the security agents are on alert to tackle crimes that may want to raise its ugly heads.
He enjoined the people to continue to support the security agents by providing useful information that will enable them to flush out all criminal tendencies in their areas, stressing that the APC success at the poll was as a result of the confidence the people have in the party to do more in all areas of the state.
Speaking at the event, the Honourable Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Hon. Wemi Jones commended the people for their genuine love for the Governor and the party, noting that despite the rain, they still found time to gather and celebrate the faithfulness of God.
He said the administration of Governor Yahaya Bello means well for the people especially in the area of education, noting that for the first time in 29yrs of the creation of Kogi State, it is under Governor Yahaya Bello administration with the support of the State House of Assembly that the state is having education law that will truly reposition the sector for optimal performance.
He noted that the recent establishment of the Confluence University of Science and Technology was part of the concerted efforts of the administration to create a conducive atmosphere to bring university education closer to the people, urging them to continue to support the party and the Governor.
While the SSA, Security in charge of Kabba/Bunu, Moses Olorunleke who served as the Chairman Planning Committee commended the leadership of the party for the support which engendered the success of the event.
According to him, he urged various communities to remain vigilant and report any suspicious movement or actions that may jeopardize the security of the area.
Kabba/Bunu APC Chairman, Hon. Olorunmosunle Elisha, aka Medusa in his remarks thanked and appreciated the stakeholders under the leadership of Rt. Hon. Prince Matthew Kolawole for the support and encouragement that is making the party to record more wins.
After the event, courtesy visits was paid to the palace of the Obaro of Kabba and Chairman Okun Area Traditional Council, His Royal Majesty, Oba Solomon Dele Owoniyi to thank him and other traditional rulers for their support in maintaining peace and tranquility in their domain before, during and after the election.
The highly elated monarch commended the party for their maturity, urging them to continue to canvass for the development of the area.
