The National Association of Kogi State Students(NAKOSS) and the Students Union Government (SUG), KSP Chapters, have felicitated with the Acting Rector of Kogi State Polytechnic, Lokoja, Dr. Salisu O. Usman on his successful 100 days in office.
The students who visited separately under their respective umbrella and led by their chapter Presidents, Comrade Ismaila Abdulmaleek Ozovehe and Comrade Oguche Teino, on Friday 17th July, 2020 also poured encomium on the Acting Rector for the great efforts within a short period in office.
They stressed that their joy knew no bounds as they recounted the achievements of the “Aluta Rector” whose target is the restoration of dignity of students.
They reflected on some of his achievements which have direct bearing on the students which include Committee membership, beefing up of security by blocking multiple entrances into the campus, building a befitting security house and putting in place a 30-bed health center as against the 3-bed clinic inherited.
Other achievements mentioned by the student bodies include floor overlay and total renovation of the 500 seat lecture theatre,
renovation of LTA and LTB, campus beautification and the release of money to get two new buses for the SUG to run their administration.
They pledged absolute support and promised to ensure all students are law-abiding when school resumes.
The Acting Rector in his response appreciated the groups for the show of love and encouraged them to face their studies seriously, stressing that the seed of greatness lies on their inside.
He pointed out that he was a student like them and now the first alumnus and youngest ever to be appointed as Acting Rector, meaning they too could do much more if they show commitment.
Highlights of the meeting were the presentation of congratulatory plaque to the Acting Rector by NAKOSS, presentation and cutting of cake by the SUG and handing over of official vehicles to the SUG.
The visit had in attendance, all the Exco members of the NAKOSS and SUG, KSP Chapters and the Acting President, Council of Kogi State Students’ Union Presidents, Comrade Olorunmagba Kehinde, who is also the SUG President of Federal University, Lokoja.
