THE Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Yahaya Bello on Thursday inaugurated three commissions as the Chief Judge of the state, Justice Nasiru Ajanah is the chairman of the Judicial Service Commission.
The commissions are Kogi State Independent Electoral Commission, Hajj commission and Judicial Service Commission.
Inaugurating the commissions at Government House in Lokoja, the state governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello urged the newly constituted SIEC members to discharged their duties without fear or favour.
He noted that what he has done is constitutional stressing that those he appointed were appointed on merit saying they are men of integrity.
He urged them not to be bias but rather give every contestants a chance and be plain while conducting election.
The governor who attributed the delay in conducting local government councils election to paucity of funds in the last four years, urged the appointed SIEC members to study the nation’s constitution with a view to acquaint themselves with what is expected of them to do and advised the members to come out with a suitable date of election that will be convenient to all political parties in the state.
According to him “You are not card carrier of any political party, no body will interfere into your activities, every political party is very relevant and important in the state and as such you are expected to treat them equally and transparently.
“You should not look at any body’s face while discharging your duties , you are expected to conduct a free, fair and credible election that will be adjudged as the best in the history of the state” the governor advised.
The commission has Mr. Mamman Nda Eri as Chairman and seven others.
Governor Bello also inaugurated Judicial Service Commission which has the Chief Judge of the state Justice Nasiru Ajanah as chairman.
He urged the members to cooperate with relevant bodies to move judiciary forward.
Advising also the members of the Hajj Commission, the governor urged them to look inward beyond hajj operations to generate revenue for the state .
He commended the commission for performing creditably in the last four years during hajj activities.
