THE Students Union President Kogi State Polytechnic, Comrade Umar Jafaru Omeiza has called on the students of the institution to remain calm and law abiding over increment in school fees by the management of the institution.
The students of the institution in the last few weeks has frowned over increment in school fees by the management of the institution.
In a press statement issued on Friday by the Students Union President Kogi State Polytechnic, Lokoja, Comrade Umar Jafaru Omeiza he stated that it has been a cause of concern and worry over the week over the increment of school fees.
He also warned them not to cause any unrest as all issues will not be swept under the carpet saying that the union is calling on the management of the institution as a matter of urgency set up committee to looked into the increment of school fees.
According him the union has swung into action and fact finding mission, consolidations, consultations and dialogue for a transparent result.
“After meeting with some principal officers of the institution, we have come to a point where a committee is set up to look into the issue and proffer a possible balance while we advise that there should be mainteinace of status quo till we reach an agreement
“While we so much appreciate the goodly interest of the management to place the institution at any enviable position among several institutions in Nigeria, we also challenge the committee to speedily fast track the interface within the student leaders,” the statement noted.
The union also called on the governor of the state, Alhaji Yahaya Bello as a Visitor of the institution to look into the hostel issues of the institution as it will also compliment the giant security measures put in place for the state.
