Nigeria’s First Lady and National Chairman of the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI), Senator Oluremi Tinubu, on Saturday embarked on a one-day working visit to Kogi State, where she commissioned major public projects and launched an empowerment programme for over 800 women.

The First Lady was received in Lokoja by Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo, his wife and Kogi State Coordinator of the Renewed Hope Initiative, Hajia Sefinat Usman Ododo, alongside governors from the North Central zone, ministers, senior government officials, traditional rulers, political leaders and other dignitaries.

During the visit, Senator Tinubu inaugurated the newly completed Kogi State Treasury House and the Primary Healthcare Centre at Lokongoma Phase I, describing the projects as significant investments that will improve public service delivery and enhance the welfare of residents.

She commended Governor Ododo for prioritising healthcare, infrastructure and other people-oriented projects, noting that the facilities reflect his administration’s commitment to sustainable development and improved living standards.

According to the First Lady, quality healthcare and efficient public institutions are essential to national development, urging residents to protect and make good use of the facilities.

At the Government House in Lokoja, Senator Tinubu flagged off the distribution of empowerment materials and start-up grants to more than 800 women under the Renewed Hope Initiative.

She explained that the programme is designed to promote self-reliance, strengthen household incomes and create economic opportunities for women and vulnerable groups across the country.

The First Lady urged beneficiaries to make productive use of the support to expand their businesses, improve their livelihoods and contribute meaningfully to their communities.

She reaffirmed the commitment of the Renewed Hope Initiative to complementing government efforts through social intervention programmes targeting women, youths, children and persons living with disabilities.

Senator Tinubu also praised Hajia Sefinat Ododo for her dedication to improving the welfare of women, families and vulnerable persons in Kogi State through impactful empowerment initiatives.

Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo expressed appreciation to the First Lady for choosing Kogi State for the visit and for her continued support for the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

He said his administration remains focused on delivering projects that directly address the needs of the people while improving access to quality healthcare, infrastructure and other essential public services.

Governor Ododo assured the First Lady that the newly commissioned facilities would be properly maintained to ensure they continue to serve the people effectively for many years.

The visit also featured interactions with women groups, community leaders and beneficiaries of the empowerment programme, who expressed gratitude for the Federal Government’s commitment to improving the welfare of Nigerians.

Traditional rulers and other stakeholders commended Senator Tinubu’s humanitarian initiatives and pledged continued support for programmes that promote inclusive growth and sustainable development.

The event attracted members of the National and State Assemblies, security chiefs, religious leaders, civil society organisations and a large gathering of women and supporters, ending with renewed calls for stronger collaboration between the Federal and Kogi State governments to accelerate development across the state.
