The Minister of Steel Development, Prince Shuaibu Abubakar Audu, has intensified efforts to advance Nigeria’s industrialisation agenda through strategic engagements with key stakeholders in the power and manufacturing sectors.

As part of the initiative, the minister on Tuesday visited the corporate headquarters of the Nigerian Electricity Management Services Agency (NEMSA) in Abuja, where he emphasized the importance of stronger collaboration between the steel and power industries to drive national development.

Speaking during the visit, Audu described the steel sector as a critical pillar of industrial growth, noting that the development of power infrastructure and other strategic sectors depends heavily on a vibrant steel industry.

He commended NEMSA for its role in ensuring electrical safety, enforcing standards, and maintaining quality assurance across Nigeria’s electricity sector.

The minister stressed that closer cooperation between the two sectors would enhance infrastructure development, support industrial expansion, and contribute significantly to economic growth.

Responding, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of NEMSA, as well as Chief Electrical Inspector of the Federation, Olusegun M. Adesayo, said the visit reflected the Federal Government’s commitment to fostering synergy among key institutions.

He noted that stronger inter-agency partnerships would accelerate industrial development and improve the nation’s economic prospects.

Among those present at the meeting was Engr. Barr. Maymunah Abubakar Audu, Executive Director, Commercial Services, NEMSA, alongside other members of the agency’s management team.

The minister also visited the Electric Motor Vehicle Company (EMVC), where he was received by the company’s Chief Executive Officer, Mustapha Audu.

During the visit, Prince Audu lauded the company’s contributions to Nigeria’s emerging electric vehicle industry, describing its efforts as vital to innovation, industrial growth, job creation, and the promotion of sustainable transportation.

He reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to supporting initiatives that strengthen local manufacturing, encourage technological advancement, and position Nigeria as a competitive industrial hub in Africa.
