Member representing Ikeja Federal Constituency in Lagos State, Rt. Hon. James Abiodun Faleke, has expressed confidence in the electoral prospects of former Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, declaring that his achievements in office are strong enough to earn him victory in his forthcoming senatorial election.

Faleke made the remark on Sunday while hosting Bello and members of his entourage at his residence in Ikeja, Lagos, where the former governor paid him a courtesy visit.

Welcoming his guest, the lawmaker appreciated Bello for taking time out of his busy schedule to visit him and his family, describing the gesture as one that promotes unity, friendship, and brotherhood.

He recalled previous instances of Bello’s outreach, noting that the visit reflected the former governor’s commitment to maintaining strong relationships.

“I want to thank you for finding time to visit us and for making what many people consider impossible become possible. This is your second visit to me, and I deeply appreciate the gesture,” Faleke said.

Speaking on Bello’s political future, the federal lawmaker commended the former governor’s record in office, insisting that his developmental strides in Kogi State remain his strongest campaign asset.

“As we approach the campaign season, I wish you success. You can comfortably stay at home and still win your election because your achievements will campaign for you. The people know what you accomplished in office and can clearly see the difference,” he stated.

Faleke added that Kogi residents would continue to benefit from Bello’s leadership experience if elected to represent them in the Senate.

The lawmaker also used the occasion to praise Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo, describing his administration as one that has continued to deliver positive results for the people of Kogi State.

“I have commended Governor Ododo both publicly and privately. He is doing very well, and I wish him continued success,” he said.
Reflecting on political relationships and reconciliation, Faleke urged political actors to embrace unity, stressing that politics should not be viewed as a bitter contest.

According to him, changing political realities often bring former rivals together, making reconciliation and cooperation necessary for progress.

“Politics is not a do-or-die affair. Life is transient, and there is no reason for people to continue fighting one another. We must embrace peace and work together for the common good,” he said.

Earlier, Faleke described Lagos as a city known for its hospitality and inclusiveness, noting that residents are generally receptive to people regardless of their ethnic or political backgrounds.

In his response, Bello thanked Faleke and his family for the warm reception accorded him and his entourage.

The former governor praised the lawmaker for his leadership qualities and contributions to governance, describing him as one of the political figures who have remained true to the ideals of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Bello stressed the importance of unity and collaboration in advancing development, saying progress is easier to achieve when leaders work together.

“I am proud of you and your accomplishments. Through the leadership and teachings of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, we have leaders like you who continue to make meaningful contributions. Whatever we seek to achieve for our state and our people can only be realized more effectively when we remain united,” Bello said.

He also expressed appreciation to Faleke’s family for the hospitality extended to him and members of his delegation, while reaffirming his commitment to sustaining cordial relationships and working with stakeholders for the development of Kogi State.
