Many persons from Mopa-Amuro Local Government Area of Kogi State have benefitted from empowerment programme organized by the member representing the local government at the Kogi State House of Assembly Hon. Jacob Olawumi.

The programme which is the one of its kind in the history of the local government was described by elders, traditional rulers and political leaders as a well thought empowerment aimed at alleviating the suffering faced by the people living in the rural areas.

The State constituency programme tagged “Mega Empowerment” the sponsor Hon. Jacob Olawumi gave out activated POS, deep freezers, grinding machines, generators and sowing machines to the beneficiaries to enable them kick start their businesses.

The Mopa-Amuro lawmaker also presented modern automatic wheelchairs to the People With Disability in the constituency.

Speaking during the distribution of the items, the lawmaker said the empowerment programme was made possible after due consultation with stakeholders from the constituents.

While giving God the glory for the opportunity to actualized his mission for his constituents, Hon Olawumi said what he did last year was to concentrate on some strategic projects in the constituency which are 100 per cent completed.

According to him ”We are only waiting for commissioning which will be done very soon because the first tranche of the constituency allowance, the Right Honourable Speaker is going around the entire 21 local government to see what they have utilised the fund for”

Speaking further, the Chairman, House Standing committee on finance and Budget added that public fund is meant for public use, noting that when the second tranche came, he took time to make a wider consultation and to see how to go about it.

“And part of that consultation is what gave birth to what we are experiencing today. Without wasting much of our time, KAPIEC and the good people of Mopa Amuro State constituency, we made provision for POS machines (20 across the 10 wards in Mopamuro local government)

“They have done their configuration and their terminal machines are cash back for immediate use. This is part of my empowerment initiatives. There are some people that we give money to.

“They will use it for something else but with these, by the time they commence the business, even though it is one, one kobo they are having on it, it will multiply and it will grow. That is the idea behind the POS machine. We have 10 wards across Mopamuro. We make provision for 10 materials in each” he stated.

The empowerment programme which is the second tranche of the Constituency allowances was attended by the former Governor of Kogi State and also former Speaker Kogi State House of Assembly, Chief Clarence Olafemi, the Elulu of Mopa and Chairman, Mopamuro Local Government Traditional Council, HRM Oba Muyiwa Ibeun, Chairman of Mopa-Amuro Local Government Area.

In their separate remarks, they applauded the lawmaker for fulfilling his campaign promises to the people of his constituency, assuring him of their overwhelming support in his political ambition.

They also promised to use their electoral strength to support Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo and the lawmaker comes 2027 general elections.

One of the recipients of the automated wheel chair, a 28 years old Osho Sunday described the gift as timely, saying the one he had has gone bad and that he find it difficult to move from one place to another.

He prayed to God to continue to lead the lawmarker alright.

Hon. Jacob Olawumi later inspected a borehole, he revived within the community.
