Nigerian cleric and the founding Archbishop of Foundation Faith Church Worldwide, Archbishop Sam Amaga, has appeal to leaders both at the national and state levels to intensify support for education, by investing in innovation, funding research and empowering universities to become engines of development and not mere factories of Certificates.
The Archbishop who is also the Chancellor and founder of Salem University Lokoja made the appeal during the 7th convocation ceremony of the University.
He noted that the Salem university have taken the lead by putting in place machines and machineries that make sure that graduands who are change agents and global leaders fulfill their potentials in full.

While describing the graduating students as change agents, he admonished them to be be creative, resourceful, productive and resilience in all their endeavours to truly become that change agents.
While commending the institution’s strategic partners, he said “Our partners in government and in the private sector, working hand-in-hand with us, deserve our words of praise and gratitude. Your collaboration has helped Salem University to sustain an environment where Peace and learning do not only walk as brethren do, in love and harmony, but equally flourish. We remain grateful to the National Universities Commission, for guidance and support in ensuring academic excellence.
“To our royal fathers and community leaders, we express our thanks for your continuous cooperation in sustaining harmony with our host community. These collaborations with these strategic partners and stakeholders demonstrate that the destiny of Nigeria cannot be realized until government, traditional institutions, faith communities, and citizens take their rightful places as co-builders of the nation.
He equally commended the Vice-Chancellor of the University, Prof. Alewo Johnson Akubo, and his entire management team and other academic and non-academic staff for their resilience, foresight and commitment to growth of Salem University.
According to him, one of the most remarkable cheering news is the successful resource-verification of Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) programme, by National Universities Commission (NUC), affirming that the programmes will go on unhinged and uninterrupted.
“Preparatory to starting the new programmes, our science laboratories have also been further equipped with modern facilities, ensuring that our students have hands-on experience and are well-prepared to meet the evolving demands of research and professional practice.

In his welcome address, the Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof. Alewo Johnson Akubo, appreciated the Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, for his continued goodwill and support to Salem University Lokoja.
According to him, the ultimate aim of the management of the institution is to build a more flourishing society founded on the unshakeable foundation of quality and functional education, capable of transforming and civilizing the whole nation.
He noted that the university has made remarkable progress in infrastructural development by initiating the state-of-the-art buildings for Anatomy and Physiology Departments under the newly established College of Basic Medical Sciences.
“This college now houses the Departments of Nursing Science, Medical Laboratory Science, Human Anatomy, and Physiology, all equipped with modern laboratories and learning facilities that meet global standards.
The institution also conffered honorary doctorate degrees on two outstanding Nigerians whose lives he said exemplified integrity, fairness, and godly character. They include Justice Adah and Chief Ogwu Onoja, SAN.
In his address, the acting Pro-chancellor and chairman of the governing council, Bishop Enobong Etteh, noted that Salem University remains a manifestation of the divine educational vision of Archbishop (Dr.) Sam Amaga, President of Salem International Christian Centre.
He enjoined the graduating students to remember the values of integrity, innovation, faith, formidability, productivity, profitability, resilience and resourcefulness, instilled in them by the institution.
