A joint Security force on Sunday recorded a landmark breakthrough in the ongoing war against banditry, kidnapping and insurgency in Kogi state after intercepting and neutralizing a major logistics supplier linked to the operations of armed criminal elements in Kabba/Bunu Local Government Area of the state.
It was reliably gathered that the operation, which was carried out just before Ofere Bunu, an agrarian community was part of a renewed and highly coordinated security campaign led by the Executive Chairman of Kabba/Bunu LGA, Hon. (Barr.) Zacchaeus Dare Michael, in collaboration with local vigilante groups, community stakeholders, and the Nigerian Army and other security forces.
According to sources, development marks a crucial victory in the ongoing efforts to dismantle the logistical networks that sustain criminal operations in and around the Kabba/Bunu axis.
The neutralized suspect was reportedly responsible for supplying essential materials, food, and communication equipment, arms and ammunition to bandit group operating within the area.
“This action is a clear signal to all those who aid and abet criminals within our communities,” said the Executive Chairman in a statement following the operation. “We will not rest until every safe haven and support line for these enemies of peace is completely uprooted. Our people deserve to live free from fear.”
Security sources confirmed that intelligence gathering and community collaboration were instrumental in tracking and intercepting the suspect before he could reach his destination.
The Chairman further reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to intensifying joint operations and intelligence sharing with relevant security agencies to ensure that Kabba/Bunu remains safe for residents and visitors alike.
