Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Ododo has distributed brand-new Jeeps and Hilux vehicles to the 21 local government chairmen in the state.

He equally reiterated his support and commitment to the full functioning and optimal operations of local governments for holistic grassroots development.

Ododo stated this on Tuesday while presenting brand-new Jeeps and Hilux vehicles to the 21 local government chairmen during a brief ceremony held at Muhammadu Buhari Civic Centre, Lokoja.

The vehicles were procured to support LGAs’ operations and ensure effective and efficient governance.

“These vehicles are not for leisure or luxury; they are for work. They are provided to support the operations of local governments, whose basic responsibility is to look after the welfare and well-being of the people at the grassroots,” he explained.

He urged the chairmen to use the vehicles to reach all nooks and crannies of their respective local governments to improve service delivery to the people, assuring continued monitoring of how resources are utilised for transparent and accountable governance.

Speaking further, the governor commended the president of the federal republic of Nigeria and commander in chief, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, saying the president has long Embarks On Coalition of infrastructural development, provided grassroots services, women and youth development.

He said, “ We in Kogi state has also Embarks on coalition of providing several infrastructural development to the benefits of the downtrodden, and not coalition of group of failures who are opposing development”,

Ododo, however, assured that his administration will continue to provide dividends of democracy, by providing the basic amenities needed to the grassroots.

Speaking earlier, the Commissioner for Local Government and Community Development, Barr. Abdulsalam Ozigi Deedat thanked the governor for always supporting local government administration and motivating the chairmen.

He stressed that the vehicles will go a long way in making work easier for the chairmen and improving the overall efficiency of governance at the local government level.

Responding on behalf of his colleagues, the Chairman of Yagba East LGA and ALGON Chairman, Hon. Tosin lagba, thanked the governor for always supporting them since their inception.

“The provision of these brand-new Jeeps, Hilux vehicles is highly appreciated. We promise never to let you down. We will maintain the vehicles and use them for the intended purpose, towards achieving your administration’s visions and missions,” he remarked.

He however promised that Kogi ALGON would mobilize for the actualization of the re-election bid of Gov. Ahmed Usman Ododo.
