The Legal Counsel to a former spokesperson for PDP Presidential Campaign and gubernatorial Campaign Councils in Kogi State in 2023, Mr. Okai Austin, who is facing a 16 count charge, bordering on Cyber stalking and criminal defamation against Gov. Usman Ahmed Ododo, has withdrawn his services.

The withdrawal happened Monday at the Lokoja High Court 1, presided by Justice AA Ibrahim, where the Legal Counsel to Okai, J J USMAN SAN, tendered his withdrawal.

Following the counsel’s withdrawal, the Judge adjoined the matter to the 16th and 17th July for mention to enable the defendant get a counsel.

Mr Okai is facing trial for his allegation on the social media that the Kogi State Governor, Alh. Ahmed Usman Ododo allegedly diverted billions of naira meant for the Local Government Councils in the state as well as some agencies under the State Government.

Okai has however tendered a public apology to Gov. Ododo and others alledged in his report over the allegation he made, pointing out that he was misled and had little information on the allegation.

Okai was a former spokesperson for PDP Presidential Campaign and gubernatorial Campaign Councils in Kogi State in 2023.

He was also a Member of the PDP Presidential Campaign organization in 2015 Presidential election and also a member of PDP National Convention.

The PDP chieftain was an aspirant for Dekina-Bassa House of Representatives seat under the platform of his party in the 2023 election.

Efforts to speak with the Counsel on reason for the withdrawal was not possible as he declined to speak while Okai says he puts puts his trust in God.
