The Olu of Apata, Oba Frederick Balogun has conferred chieftaincy title, Mayegun of Apataland on the General Manager of the Kogi State Community and Social Development Agency, Chief Momoh Dauda.
Chief Momoh was honored with the prestigious title by His Royal Highness, Oba Frederick Durojaiye Balogun, the Olu of Apata, in recognition of his remarkable contributions to the development of Apata land.
The chieftaincy conferment was part of the grand celebration marking the tenth anniversary of the monarch’s coronation.
He dedicated his newly conferred chieftaincy title, Mayegun of Apataland, to His Excellency, Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo.
Speaking at the event in Apata, Chief Momoh expressed deep appreciation to Governor Ododo for providing him with the opportunity to serve the people, which ultimately led to this recognition. He emphasized that the governor’s leadership has fostered a spirit of community service and development across Kogi State.
“This honor is not just mine; it belongs to His Excellency, Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo, whose unwavering commitment to grassroots development has created the platform for people like me to make meaningful contributions. I dedicate this title to him as a symbol of our collective efforts to improve the lives of our people,” Chief Momoh stated.
He further assured the people of Apata that he would remain steadfast in his commitment to their welfare, pledging not to betray the trust and confidence reposed in him.
The Olu of Apata, Oba Frederick Durojaiye Balogun, highlighted Chief Momoh’s outstanding efforts in community development, particularly in fostering social and infrastructural progress in Apata land. The monarch commended him for his unwavering dedication to the people, describing him as a worthy son of the land.
The colorful ceremony was attended by dignitaries from across Kogi State, traditional rulers, political leaders, and well-wishers who gathered to celebrate Chief Momoh’s achievements and his continued contributions to the community.
With this honor, Chief Momoh Dauda is further positioned as a key stakeholder in the ongoing transformation of Apata land, reinforcing his commitment to the development of the community under the visionary leadership of Governor Ododo.
Speaking further, Chief Momoh noted that the chieftaincy title will motivate him to double his efforts in ensuring that the agency under his control continue to deliver projects which has direct bearing and improve the quality of lives of the people of the state.
He called on the people of Apataland to continue to support the government of Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo by ensuring peaceful co-existence, saying no meaningful Development can thrive in an atmosphere of rancour and disunity.
Earlier the Royal father, who is the Olu of Apata, Ipatun -Oworo in Lokoja Local Government Area, Oba, Dr. Fredrick Durojaiye, promised to continue to work for the unity, peace and Development of Apata Kingdom.
According to Oba Durojaiye, the 10th year anniversary is to take stock of what he and his cabinet have been able to do for the community and chart the way forward for more impactful Development, hence the launch of 500 million naira fund raising for skill acquisition and construction of a multipurpose center for the Apata community.
While congratulating those conferred with chieftaincy titles, the Royal father appealed to the Kogi state government to construct a modern Primary Healthcare center in Apata Community to service not only the Apata community and the other adjoining communities.
Speaking further, the Oba said “I would like to take a moment to express my heartfelt appreciation to the state government for their unwavering support over the past decade. Their initiatives, including the establishment of schools and a magistrate court in our kingdom, have greatly enhanced the quality of life for our people. Furthermore, the elevation of the Olu Apata stool to a second-class status is a testament to the recognition of our heritage and the importance of our leadership within the state.
“To my esteemed traditional council and the resilient people of Apata, | extend my heartfelt gratitude for your unwavering support and dedication in making this celebration a reality. Your efforts are the backbone of our community’s strength and prosperity.
Apata Community plays host to the Dangote Group of Industries, made up of the Dangote Cement, Dangote Transport, Dangote Packaging and Dangote Academy and several other Companies.
Others who were conferred with chieftaincy titles includes; Alhaji Aliko Dangote as AareTayese of Apataland, Emeritus Prof. Olugbemiro Jegede as the Gbadeniyi of Apataland, Engr. Edwin Davakumar, as Aare Afiwajoye of Apataland and Dr. Onimode Abdullahi Bandele who is the Bobagunwa of Apataland.
Others are; Barr. Fumilayo Schule, as the Erelu of Apataland and Chief Olusegun Foluwaso Obanla who is the Bobaselu of Apataland.
