The Members of Lokoja Forum of Patriots, a socio cultural organization, have described the title claim of the Etsu Nupe Lokoja as alien to the people of Lokoja.
In a press briefing addressed by the Forum, Alhaji Idris Babango, said the people of Lokoja have lived peacefully with one another, called on Mr. Emmanuel Shelika not to fan embers of discord amongst the people.
He said Lokoja has witnessed inter tribal relationship amongst various ethnic groups, practicing their traditional religion and also engaging in inter tribal marriages among themselves, cautioned against attempt to create disharmony among the people.
The group pointed out that there was never a time in history that the people have an Etsu as the chief of Lokoja, described the personal ambition and claim by Mr. Shelika as unfounded, laced with sinister motives.
The Forum urged Mr. Shelika to do away with his personal desires and attempt at acquiring the throne of Etsu Nupe Lokoja which has never existed in the history of Lokoja.
The Forum also called on the Lokoja Council Chairman and security agencies to address the inordinate ambition of Mr. Shelika aimed at causing disunity amongst the people.
While assuring that the people of Lokoja have lived peacefully, said that peaceful arrangement cannot afford to be lost, reason why Mr. Shelika needs to be cautioned.
The Forum called on the people of Lokoja to continue to sustain the peace that they are known for, prayed and wished His Royal Highness, the Maigari of Lokoja, Alhaji Ibrahim Gambo Muhammadu Kabir IV, long life.
