Tragedy struck in Ekiti State last week when Shittu Rasaq Adeola, a respected community member, lost his life to police brutality. His offense? Being an innocent bystander.
Shittu’s ordeal began when he unknowingly congratulated a friend on a stolen car. Upon discovering the truth, he promptly reported the incident to the authorities, leading to the thieves’ arrest. However, in an unfathomable twist, police detained Shittu and brutally killed him during interrogation.
He was arrested on Friday 13th of September 2024, his families and Lawyers were denied access to see him all through the weekdays and then his lawyer was informed on Monday, 23rd September 2024 that he had died.
