INTRODUCTION

Let me use this opportunity to thank God and to appreciate every one of you that have made today a reality in our own beloved Mopa as you have freely elected me today Friday September 13, 2024 as the new President of the Mopa Welfare Society as I feel elevated in my spirit to take up this very great responsibility which I so promise to discharge effectively and efficiently in my new capacity as the President, Mopa Welfare Society.

1. Firstly, and foremost, my sincere gratitude goes to Almighty God through JESUS CHRIST, the Mopa Traditional Council under the able leadership of His Royal Majesty, Kabiyesi Alayeluwa, Oba (Dr.) Muyiwa IBEUN and the entire good people of Mopa land for making this annual general meeting of Mopa Welfare Society a reality.

2. If I may say, Mopa stands on the threshold of a new era in history in view of our new intellectually mobile Monarch, Kabiyesi, Alayeluwa, Oba (Dr.) Muyiwa IBEUN, the ELULU of MOPA and Chairman, Mopamuro Local Government Area Traditional Council who has embarked on a major monumental development of our own beautiful and admired Mopa city.

3. His Royal Majesty Oba (Dr) Muyiwa IBEUN may you live long sir and may your reign bring about peace, safety, security and unprecedented developments to our community Amen.

4. I strongly believe we can collectively bring about the desired and much needed change in Mopa Welfare Society by transforming our motherland to an inclusive community with rich and solid economic base as well as safe and vibrant community for all and sundry.

5. Mopa is a valley town which radiates brightly to anyone who downplays rural community development, Mopa if transformed and reformed, can blossom into a hopeful experience and become an enviable place both for the young and the old to be proud of.

6. As such, MOPA TUNTUN and a new Mopa Welfare Society beacon on us all to join hands together and make it a reality. The efforts of our past heroes within the MWS are recognized and appreciated. Such heroes who served our great community in times past with every gift of God endowed to them can never be forgotten.

7. To many who have lost hope in the IMOPAPO and Mopa Welfare Society experience and the dreams of our forebears, a new Mopa Welfare Society and MOPA TUNTUN beacons on us all to join hands together and make it a reality.

8. To the weary at heart when issues of the Mopa Welfare Society are mentioned taking stock of the rust, rot, ruin and the lack of accountability/financial transparency therein, there is a NEW DAWN, A NEW HOPE and A BEAUTIFUL MOPA WELFARE SOCIETY has now emerged. Per adventure, you have lost hope in her activities, MOPA TUNTUN beacons on us all to find a common ground to sit and work together and break new ground.

9. Part of the MOPA TUNTUN and Mopa Welfare Society experience is to see things with fresh eyes and also to see through the opportunities that abound therein and make the lemon to lemonade for the advancement of our Mopa community. Before now, I have been outside looking through the MWS, but now, by the special grace of God, I have now become one of the leaders that will be able to fully participate from the inside. For me, it is an honour and, at the same time, a huge responsibility placed on my shoulder. I strongly believe it is also going to be a wonderful community development experience as well as more of understanding the concept of rural development.

10. Although I know that I am not perfect but with your support, collective input a new Mopa Welfare Society and MOPA TUNTUN is possible and together we can all make it happen. Let me use this opportunity to invite all the “Mopans” both at home and in diaspora to join hands with us and build a new Mopa where everyone will be happy and contribute their own quotas into making our own beloved Mopa a place of envy where no one is oppressed and where we can all say TOGETHER WE CAN. Absolutely, we have so much work to do in terms of damage control and battered image panel beating.

11. Let me end by borrowing Apostle Paul’s word in Philippians 4: 8 Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things. NKJV.

12. I sincerely and strongly promise our dear people of Mopa that with God Almighty through JESUS CHRIST on our side, our team will not betray the trust in the collective making of a new Mopa Welfare Society.

Thank you.
