As part of its humanitarian gesture, an NGO, Doyin and Suzan Foundation, has again donated food items to widows and vulnerable women in Kogi.

The palliatives were distributed to some rural communities of Isanlu, Yagba East Local Government Area of Kogi.

Addressing the beneficiaries in Isanlu, the Executive Director of the NGO, Chief Mrs Adedoyin Ibikunle-Eshanumi, said the gesture was to support the vulnerable women during difficult periods like this.

Ibikunle-Eshanumi said the initiative was part of her routine humanitarian program to ease the current economic hardship occasioned by the removal of fuel subsidy.

She added that it was also a away of appreciating the women for their massive support for President Tinubu/Shettima during the February 25 presidential election.

She said that the palliative was a way of also mobilising support for the candidate of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in preparation for the November 11 governorship election in the state.

She stressed that vulnerable women and widows, who lack visible means of livelihood, were the most affected group in the society.

“This is a routine humanitarian program that we carried out from time to time. We empowered over 400 widows during the Easter celebration and 300 women immediately after the removal of fuel subsidy in June.

“We usually distributes food items during all festive periods and we will continue to do that as part of our humanitarian services.

”The humanitarian gesture is part of our foundation’s vision to reach out to the indigent and vulnerable in the society, to alleviate their sufferings,” she said.

Some of the beneficiaries, Mrs Modupe Johnson, and Mrs Rukayat Abdullahi, appreciated the NGO for its humanitarian program to assisting the widows and vulnerable women in the society.

“We are very grateful to Chief Doyin Ibikunle-Eshanumi for always alleviating our sufferings and making us happy. May God bless her,” Johnson prayed.

Items distributed were: semovita, rice, maggi, noodles, salt, spaghetti, clothings, among others.
