The Ogidi Ela Forum (OEF) has become a mainstay of the Ogidi Day Festival, Nigeria’s biggest culture event in June.
It started in 2013 as a WhatsApp chatroom of like minded friends who were working hard in the Ogidi Development Union (ODU) towards the development of Ogidi.
Soon, it became a non governmental organization with a life outside cyberspace and registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) with the prime purpose of midwifing development programmes in the community.
Gradually, it has metamorphosed into a global body of Ogidi professionals across three continents, who are in unity of purpose, working towards the actualization of a solid development agenda for their community.
Last year, the body collaborated with ODU to finance the multimillion Naira Ogidi Day Medical Outreach for our people. It has also financed the restoration of and supply of classroom furniture to Government Day Secondary School, Ogidi as well as funded the installation of solar street light across the community.
OEF is the face of the self help spirit that drives growth and development in our town.
Every year, at the Ogidi Day Festival, OEF members, among who are the Ologidi of Ogidi, Oba Rabiu Oladimeji Sule, file out in their numbers to show their strength, pay obeisance to the king and renew their allegiance to the crown.
The parade of groups, associations and clubs is one of the colorful highlights of the Ogidi Day Festival which has become a major attraction to guests.
Under the commendable leadership of their Chief Administrator, a woman of iron and steel, Hajiya Asiawu Funmilayo Mundi, OEF members will again file out with one of their own, the inimitable London based community development zealot, Mr. Matthew Adekunle Medupin, who is the Father of the Day at the Ogidi Day Festival this year, to renew their loyalty to the Ebora Ogidi himself, His Royal Highness, Oba Rabiu Oladimeji Sule.
Saturday, June 18, 2022, will be another Ogidi Day Festival and an opportunity to watch on parade, the OEF and other groups of patriots working in tandem for the uplifting of their community.
Don’t miss the colour. Don’t miss the beat.
Ogidi Day is where to be on Saturday, June 18, 2022.
It is getting bigger and better.
