Getting a gun is like buying bread says Auwalun Daudawa, the leader of Zamfara bandits. He made this statement during an interview with daily trust after his repentance.

He was the one who led the abduction of kankara 344 students in the kankara local govt area. He revealed that they were at the school with not fewer than 24 AK-47 bullets, rifles and other arms.

Auwalun Daudawa reveals how and what influenced him to join bandits. He said he has cattles and a place where he lives peacefully with his family, but the government came and took away his cattles and all he has, he is in hardship, that was how he joined the bandits.

The Zamfara state government granted him amnesty and his followers, he also made a promise not to go back to his notorious life of banditry after coming back to normal life.

It was also reported by Sahara reporters that the Zamfara state govt spent #250m on repentance bandits in 2021, this has brought some reactions on why this amount of money should be spent on such notorious and merciless people, what should separate them from the government is the starting fight and should be ended.

Banditry is a major problem disturbing the peaceful environment of the northerners. The North lives in peace, but since the advent of banditry, the North is in a calamity. This chaos is believed to be associated with political issues.

Inorder hand, banditry is perceived as a problem of poverty and lack of adequate knowledge and morals control that escalated into banditry.

However the main aim now by the government is to bring an end to this inhuman action of bandits. That is why they are doing what they see is possible to bring an end to banditry.

The government is making an effort to end abduction and Banditry occurring in the northern states. How do you see their actions by granting amnesty to these bandits?
