The Social Democratic Party, (SDP) Kogi State chapter has recommended the expulsion of the former Minister of Police Affairs, Mr Humphrey Abba from its fold for what it described as anti-party activities.

In a statement signed by the state chairman of the party, Alhaji Mouktar Atimah, said the expulsion of Abba has become necessary in view of the forthcoming governorship election in Kogi State.

The statement which reads in part said  “In the recommendation we advised that he should be expelled from the party. This decision was made based on the proximity of the state gubernatorial elections coming soon and the party at the state is prepared to unseat the present ruling party from Lugard house hence we need to close ranks and know those going to the battlefield with us.

According to Atimah, the party had earlier suspended the former minister of police affairs Mr Humphrey Abba few weeks to the last general elections for anti party activities.

He said a committee was set up to look into the activities levelled against him.In trying to find out if he was culpable of the allegations.

While regretting that the former minister did not honour all invitations to get his own side of the allegations, Mouktar said that the former Minister rather felt bigger than the committee but they still went ahead to do their job.

“At the assumption of office,we made it clear that the party is supreme to its members and all members should comport themselves within the party’s constitution. We tried to give him fair hearing but he saw himself to be bigger than the state chapter of the party.

“At the emergency meeting of the State Executive Council it was decided that he still remains suspended from our party, it was also agreed that the report of the committee should be forwarded to the party national Secretariat for appropriate action.

“With this development the party guidelines for the election will soon be released intense and aggressive campaigns begins. We can’t afford to go for the race with a divided front.

“Members of the party and the general public are advised not to have any dealing with him as regards our party anyone who does so is on his own.

“I use this medium to urge our members, supporters and associates to remain resolute as we are sure of freeing the state from the shackles of mismanagement and poverty.
