A 77 year old Lawal Abdullahi one of the three men arrested for insulting President Muhammadu Buhari and Governor Aminu Masari of Katsina State has explained why he insulted them.
Lawal Abdullahi, 77, alias ‘Izala’, alongside Bahajaje Abu, 30, and Hamza Abubakar, 27, was arrested after he appeared in a viral video abusing his leaders.
However, explaining his reasons for the outburst to reporters, 77-year-old Abdullahi said he was infuriated after his relative was allegedly murdered by bandits over 15 cows.
Abdullahi reportedly blamed the President and the Governor for their alleged negligence on the matter … saying the perpetrators haven’t faced the law and that he hasn’t be given justice.
“I Insulted them [President Buhari and Governor Masari] because I went to the village and found out that my brother has been slaughtered like a ram, because of 15 cows, coming back I asked about the government…” he told newsmen.
Meanwhile, while confirming their arrest, the spokesman of the Katsina state police command, SP Gambo Isah, had warned members of the general public that the Police will not fold its arms and watch while “disgruntled elements violate the sacred laws of the land.”
He added that any person found taking undue advantage of the social media to insult others – contrary to the provisions of the Cyber Crime Act – will face the wrath of the law.
