A widow, Mrs. Blessing Abah had been disgraced in public by her inlaw as she was allegedly accused of sleeping with a particular man which led to the death of her husband in Ogugu, Olamaboro local government council of Kogi state.
According to information reaching our reporter, Blessing Abah got married to Akoh Abah on the 31st of October 2020. They received praises from friends and family over their special kind of “wedding cake”
According to the surces, their wedding cake was not the typical wedding cake people were used to, it was a native food called Ikpakpa-Akpa familiar to the Igala people of Kogi State but it was molded to look like a cake. The ‘cake’ was influenced by Abah’s mother who was a well-known seller of Ikpakpa-akpa in her area
The source gathered that barely 2 years into the union Abah has died and his family has waged war on Blessing. Abah’s family has accused Blessing of having an extramarital affair which led to her husband’s death
Despite the pain of losing her husband, Blessing now a widow has been subjected to public disgrace by her in-laws who reportedly threw her out of her matrimonial home in Ogugu Olamoboro Kogi State with promises of frustrating her life.
In a video , Blessing said “I swear I know nothing about his death, believe me, oh my God” blessing could be seen pleading with tears in her eyes to persons believed to be her in-laws who kept on verbally abusing and accusing her In a VIDEO shared
“Okada men who surrounded her told her to stop denying the claims or risk provoking area boys to beat her up. One could see the pain that Blessing was going through.
Mrs Blessing Abah, and her husband were living in Lagos. Following an illness said to require traditional medicine, the couple relocated to Ogugu, were the god’s were said to have alleged her of promiscuity following the death
One of the family member name withheld who spoke with newsmen confirmed the incident and spoke about the circumstances surrounding the death of the man.
He said the parade of the lady was carried out by the aggrieved members of the community and friends of the deceased!
According to the family, there were underline issues that aggravated the action against the woman, among which are: cultural/age-long belief, affection for the deceased by his people and attitude of the lady before the eventual death of her husband!
The man confirmed that the situation has been brought under control since yesterday, owing to the prompt intervention by the Community Development Association and the Elders and the woman is presently with her people in her father’s compound!
However, he spoke passionately and condemned the action taken against the woman.
He pleaded that the community needs the presence and intervention of the Government over the case to help protect Mrs. Blessing Abah, the wife of the deceased in order to discourage further molestation against her by the hoodlums and an urgent enlightenment/sensitization of the people to forestall future occurrence in the community.
The Executive Director Challenged Parenthood Initiatives, Eunice Agbogun, has condemned in strong terms the molestation and subjecting to a criminal trial of one Mrs Blessing Abah accused of killing her husband following an allegation of infidelity.
She described the injustice as unacceptable to the women folks, assured that her Organisation would not rest but work to unravel the circumstances leading to such traumatic torture of a woman in this age and time.
