The President Kogi State Traditional Council and the Ata Igala , His Royal Majesty, Mathew Alaji Ogwuche Akpa has called on the National Population Commission (NPC) to conduct a credible and accurate population and houses census also devoid of irregularities or favouritism.
The Ata Igala made this call when he received the Federal Commissioner, Professor Jimoh Isah who paid courtesy visit to the palace in Idah, Idah local government of Kogi State.
The first class monarch explained that most of the previous census exercises conducted were inaccurate, stressing that this time around the people at the helms of of the Commission must do the right things.
He said from the speech of the National Population Commission (NPC), Federal Commissioner, Professor Jimoh Isah has brought hope to Nigerians that NPC would conduct credible census.
He admonished the NPC boss that should be any assistance required, he should let him know, stressing that the entire Igala Kingdom will render assistance needed to the Commission for them to succeed in this onerous tasks.
Earlier in his remarks, the Federal Commissioner (NPC) , Professor Jimoh Isah has pledged that the Commission this time around would conduct an accurate census that will be acceptable to Nigerians.
He explained that as a geographer he will conduct accurate population census of Nigeria, adding that they are carrying out a trial census across the 774 local government in Nigeria in Kogi State.
The NPC boss said this exercise can not go without the notice of the traditional rulers and people of his domains.
He said that he led the NPC to the palace for advocacy and royal blessings from the monarch.
He there assured the tradition ruler that the Commission of yesterday is different from today, noting that the Commission has been digitalized that will give rooms for more improvement.
The Commissioner stated that with calibre of personnel in NPC, the Commission will deliver on its mandate.
