Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello has said that the right person would be crowned as Attah Igala.
The former Attah Igala, Micheal Ameh Oboni 11 who spend seven years on the throne passed away August last year after a brief illness in Abuja Hospital.
Governor Bello while speaking said the process for the appointment of new Attah of Igala is an advanced stage and that the monarch will soon be unveiled.
Governor Bello, who is eyeing presidential seat in the 2023 general elections, said the right person would be crowned as Attah of Igala.
His words : “The process is going on. It is almost completed. As soon as it is concluded we will make sure the announcement is made.
I so much respect the traditional institution in Kogi State and I don’t want any imposition or manipulation whatsoever. Let the right person emerge. As soon as we have such person we will make sure he is confirmed.”
Speaking on his possible successor as governor of the state, Yahaya Bello said he is grooming many good politicians to take over the mantle of leadership in the confluence state.
“At an appropriate time, I know that the person will emerge, and whoever emerges will be the best for Kogi State.
“I am grooming leaders across the state, from the local to the state level. By the time I will be concluding my second term in office, I want to assure you that anybody picked at the end of the day would be good for the state. I want to also assure you that the best person that would do even better than me shall emerge, by the grace of God”.
Similarly, Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State has given reasons why a former Lagos State governor and national leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu should not succeed President Muhammadu Buhari in 2023, saying the purported pact between the president and the former Lagos governor is not binding.
Bello, whose campaign posters for the presidency have littered parts of the country, in an exclusive interview with Daily Trust, said the leader of the APC would be convinced to support a young aspirant to succeed Buhari.
Tinubu, who played a key role in the formation of the ruling party and victory of President Buhari, is yet to declare for the presidency, but his body language shows he may throw his hat in the ring.
