KOGI Solidarity Front has warned the former Speaker of Kogi State, Hon. Abdulahi Bello to stop parading himself as former governor of the state.
The group in a statement issued on Saturday and signed by Mr. Joseph Simple said it is sad that the former Speaker is still parading himself as former governor of kogi state.
According to the group, in 2011, Captain Idris Wada was validly sworn in as the governor and called on Abdulahi Bello not to regard his controversial swearing in as a lincense to address himself as former governor when he is not.
“We are sad to note that he is still parading himself as former governor, we all knew what happened in 2011
“Wada was elected and voted for by the people of the state and he got the mandate of the people. We wonder where he got his mandate from.
However, in a swift reaction, Hon. Bello said he was sworn to office as Acting Gov by Hon Justice Nasiru Ajanah the Kogi State Chief Judge as he was then at 5pm on Friday 27th Jan, in 2012.
While reacting to the report, he noted that “there was never a vacuum in the governance of our state until Wada came back to take over the following Monday. And I reverted back to my constitutional duty as the Honorable Speaker.
“No court has reversed or declare this act of my swearing-in, an invalid action till date.
If anyone is in doubt such person or group of persons may approach the court of law to challenge my claims.
“If some people in the State think otherwise, it’s to be expected because we’re of different levels in terms of our thoughts and understanding of issues. Whether you like my person or not I took oath of office as Acting Gov in Kogi State on the said date. Can anyone deny that? he asked.
