The Nigeria States Legislators has inaugurated national, zonal states coordinators for the 36 states to mobilize support for Gov. Yahaya Bello of Kogi State to emerge as the All Progressive Congress (APC) candidate for the 2023 Presidential Election.
The coordinators inaugurated includes Speaker of Kogi State House of Assembly, Prince Matthew Kolawole as National Coordinator; Ahmed Marafa as Deputy National Coordinator North, and Otunba Olufemi Ajagbe- Deputy National Coordinator South.
Others include Assistant National Coordinator North, Suleiman Alkali; Assistant National Coordinator South, Prince Chris Akano; and Group Leader, Gambo Kiri as well as state coordinators for the 36 states of the Federation.
Inaugurating the coordinators, Kolawole called on them to go back to home and mobilise APC delegates to support in the respective states for Gov. Bello to win the party’s presidential ticket for 2023.
Kolawole said that as representatives of the people at the grassroots there was need for them to continue to work together to have a formidable group in contributing to the sustainability of Nigeria’s democracy.
He described Bello as courageous youth that possessed all the requirements to lead Nigeria.
“The inauguration ceremony today is to get us acquainted, to strategize with the charge for us to return home and commence aggressive work to mobilize for eligible delegates that will work for the success of the aspiration of Gov. Bello to emerge as the presidential candidate of our great party, APC 2023.
“There is no gainsaying that Gov. Bello is eminently qualify to rule the country based on his antecedents as the most security conscious Governor aside other qualities that stand him out.
“ He is a young, dogged, bold, courageous and determined leader whose interest is in getting results for the people of Nigeria.
“Having achieved so much in Kogi State, he possesses the cognate experience to manage our diversity as exemplified in a complex state like Kogi which is a mini Nigeria; a state that borders nine states including Federal Capital Territory.
“He has been able to unify all segments of the state be it tribal, religious and political to have a peaceful state since he assumed office in 2016.
“I therefore call on all my colleagues in the House to endorse Gov. Bello as the next presidential candidate of our great part, APC, as all the requirements for a focused, committed and purposeful leadership are abundant in Bello,
“Supporting him to become the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria come 2023 will lift the country to a new level of development,” Kolawole said.
He recalled that the Kogi State House of Assembly in December, 2020 urged Bello to contest for the position of president and had continue to mobilise support for across all states since early 2021.
“Today’s event is the climax of our activities toward the realization of our desired goal of having a youthful, energetic, pragmatic and dynamic President come 2023.
He reiterated the need to zone the party’s presidential ticket to the North Central , which remained the only zone that has not been privileged to be elected as either President or Vice President since the inception of the country in 1960.
He said this was in spite the fact that zoning remain one of the stabilizing factors that have continued to hold Nigeria together.
He commended President Muhammadu Buhari for his untiring efforts at providing purposeful leadership for the country at this critical time of the nationhood.
He said that the APC led government under President Buhari had delivered many laudable projects across all sectors of the economy.
These according to him include security, road infrastructures, rail transportation, agriculture, youths and women engagement, massive investment in security, housing, reform of the oil and gas sector etc.
“Based on the monumental achievements of President Buhari and in line with the ongoing agitation of a young president that is agile, resourceful, proactive and security conscious, we need not to look elsewhere than Gov. Bello.
“Bello has proved overtime to be more than ready to take up the challenges of moving the country to another level of development.”
Kolawole also congratulated APC Caretaker/Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee (CECPC) led by Gov. Mai Mala Buni on the successful inauguration of the party’s State Chairmen across the country a few days ago.
“Indeed, the CECPC of our great party has proved to be worthy of the confidence reposed in it.“
Speaking on behalf of the inaugurated coordinator, Hon. Rita Maduagwu, appreciated the conference for the confidence repose on them to work for the realisation of the Bello’s presidential ambition.
Maduagwu pledged that the coordinators would go back home and mobilise the necessary supports to get the ticket.
A member of Kogi State House of Assembly, Oluhola Olumu, in his remarks said that Gov. Bello had performed well in the administration and development of Kogi State including infrastructure and electronic governance.
“If you come to Kogi State now all our businesses are web captured electronically.
Yahaya Bello is a brand going from GYB 2 PYB, please our PYB guidance,”Olumu said.
A member of Plateau State House of Assembly, Mohammed Lado said that the states legislators had the capacity to mobilise delegates’ support for Bello, who had the capacity to win the 2023 presidential election in 2023.
He pleaded the state legislators support to Bello saying by the grace of God we are going to deliver him.
The lawmakers in a communiqué issued at the end of the event and read by Former Speaker of Kano State House of Assembly, Hon. Gambo Kiri, passed vote of confidence on President Buhari and Gov. Buni led CECPC of the APC.
