Speaker of the Kogi State House of Assembly Rt. Hon. Prince Matthew Kolawole has congratulated Governor Yahaya Bello and his deputy, David Edward Onoja, on their victory at the Kogi State Election Petition Tribunal in Abuja against the Governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP) Engr. Musa Wada.
The Speaker said it is heartwarming to receive the cheering news of the well deserved victory, stressing that truly those petitions lacked merit and were justifiably discountenanced.
He said the dismissal of the case is long envisaged as many of the points canvassed by the petitioner is based on hearsay, stressing that the tribunal has done justice to the case.
He further said that the victory wouldn’t have come at a better time than this with the rigorous campaigns that earned the majority votes of the electorates across the 21 Local Government Areas in the State.
He urged the oppositions to drop whatever grievances they might have and join hands with Governor Yahaya Bello to move the State to the next level of development, noting that the election held on the 16th November, 2019 was squarely won by the All Progressive Congress (APC) and Governor Yahaya Bello overwhelmingly
He said the legislative arm under his watch with his colleagues will continue to collaborate with the Executive and other stakeholders to make laws that will enable Governor Yahaya Bello-led administration to do more for the people of the State.
Also, Barr. James Fabola has described the Tribunal judgment that affirms the victory of Gov. Yahaya Bello’s in the November 16, Kogi Governoship Election as a confirmation of the people’s overwhelming verdict.
Barr. Fabola made this known in a statement while congratulating Gov Yahaya Bello on his victory at the tribunal, said from the onset, we told them that the victory of Gov Bello in the election would be validated but they refused to listen.
Barr. Fabola recalled that an overwhelming majority of registered Kogi State voters through the ballot box spoke eloquently of their preference for Governor Yahaya Bello and his Deputy Chief David Edward Onoja as their Governor/ Deputy over and above other contenders at the election, urged the aggrieved to accept the verdict in good faith.
The APC Chieftain said that the eloquent preference of the people for Gov. Bello had not only been accentuated by the united voices of the tribunal justices but by the joy in the hearts and minds of discerning Kogites.
Barr. Fabola Called on the aggrieved to rather than dessipate energy in the court, Called them to join hands with Gov. Yahaya Bello in moving the state forward.
Barr. Fabola described the Governor’s mandate as one that was overwhelmingly given to him by Kogi People, said it was a divine mandate for the growth and development of the state.
Barr. Fabola used the statement to call on the Governor to continue with his good works in the transformation of the state, pointing out that the governor has good intention for the state and should not be distracted by unnecessary litigations.
