The 5 Governors of the southeast region have met over the recent insecurity currently plaguing the region.
The governors, after a virtual meeting on Monday, the 31st of May, issued a statement on their collective resolve to end insecurity and their opinion on the crises in the region.
In the communique which was signed by the chairman of the southeast governor’s forum, Chief David Umahi, the Ebonyi state governor, the governors resolved as follows:
They condemned the brutal killing of Ahmed Gulak in Imo state and commiserated with the family and friends of the deceased and Adamawa state in general.
The forum appreciated President Buhari for the immediate action in instructing the security agencies to fish out the killers of the northern politician.
They also thanked the northern governors and elders for understanding with the southeast region in these trying times.
The governors also commiserated with families of deceased Nigerians who lost their lives during the crises in the region.
They pledged to leave no stone unturned in tracking down and arresting everyone who is involved in the current wave of violence in the region.
Finally, they appealed to members of the public to allow the security agencies to do their work in unraveling the agents of division and other criminals who have a hand in the assassinations in the region.
