The Social Democratic Party (SDP) in Kogi State has dissociated itself from a statement attributed to Hon. Isaiah Davies Ijele, who claimed to be the spokesperson for the party’s gubernatorial candidate, Muri Ajaka.
In a letter signed by the party’s State Secretary, Arome Okeme, the SDP clarified that Ijele was not appointed or empowered as the party’s spokesperson and should not speak on behalf of the party.
The party urged Ijele to be mindful of his limits and not overstep his jurisdiction, emphasizing the need to maintain harmony and clarity in their duties.
This development comes after Ijele issued a press statement calling on interested individuals to prepare for active participation in the forthcoming Local Government election, which the party deemed unauthorized.
The SDP leadership in Kogi State has distanced itself from Ijele’s statement, reiterating that only authorized officials can speak on behalf of the party.
The move is seen as a bid to maintain order and discipline within the party ranks, ahead of the forthcoming elections.
