Borno State Government has played host to 16 days consecutive program on Gender Based Violence (GBV),against women across the world.
The event which took off in the state capital was inaugurated by Women Affairs and Social Developement Commissioner, Hajiya Zuwaira Gambo.
It is also jointly sponsored by the European Union,British Council and other NGO’s meant to Fund,Respond, Prevent and Collect all actions against our women in the Society.
‘ We aim to Fund Women organisations, Respond to the needs of survivors, Prevent GBV with awareness programs and Collect Data to help influence policy.’ the organisers said.
She stressed the importance of GBV program in Borno state, especially the war ravaged areas were there is prevalent activities of violators.
Hajiya Zuwaira Gambo says the week long program came at a right time, when the women of the state are undergoing rehabilitation, reconstruction and redirection towards achieving lofty ideals.
She commended the efforts of NGO’s, international donor agencies towards the emancipation of the people of Borno state, particularly women, geared towards self sustenance.
